SEATTLE – May 9, 2016 – Gauge Design Group, formerly Seattle Stair & Design, launched today with expanded services that includes complete interior architectural installations, anywhere in the world. A fixture of the Seattle design and construction industry, Gauge has a 38-year history of delivering world class design and services into built environments. The company’s focus is on residential construction, and its clients include numerous high-profile celebrities and business executives. Its select commercial projects include the Barney’s New York showroom and the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation headquarters in Seattle as well as the Hyatt Regency Bellevue, among many others.

Gauge is unique in its embrace of modern approaches and materials alongside the techniques and tradition of the Compagnon du Devoir, the elite guild of woodworkers who built the great cathedrals and chateaux of France, where members of the Gauge team have studied.

“Our goal is to artfully interpret extraordinary architecture for notable builders, and to create beautiful, elegant and often complex pieces that will inspire people for years to come,” said Matt Dekker, Gauge Design Group Principal and CEO. “For each customer, we want to bring deliberate and caring guidance, seamless integration across all aspects of the project, and an enjoyable experience for all.”

Over the last several years, through the strategic acquisition of Thatcher Woodworks and other efforts, the company has built its expertise in order to offer complete interior solutions, including custom cabinetry, millwork, furniture, and metal fabrication as well its national award-winning monumental stairs. Along with an expanded service portfolio and a reach into new geographic areas, Gauge Design Group will continue to offer customers unparalleled design and craftsmanship, along with its well known customer service excellence.

Gauge Design Group’s core services include:

• Design – Gauge carefully captures what a client really wants, why they want it, and why it’s important to them. This careful listening is the key to much of the company’s success.

• Interiors – Gauge is passionate about completing the design vision of built space – the composition of interior finishes and furnishings shapes how one connects, and feels, within it.

• Furniture & Furnishings – Gauge creates custom-made furniture and furnishings that can be intricately interwoven into any space or application.

“Gauge Design Group is renowned for their guild-level artisanship, high-caliber design integrity and in today’s mass production mindset, a commitment to build things well again,” commented Duncan McRoberts, a Kirkland, WA-based architect. Modern or traditional, cantilevered or curved – they know it all. Their handmade approach and love of beauty and craft make Gauge a perfect partner for architects, interior designers, builders and clients who hope to achieve something truly exceptional.”
